Ever since tanning became taboo, getting a bronze-y summer glow just isn't as fun. But there's good news for former tanning junkies--faking it is easier than ever, thanks to advanced self-tanners, natural looking bronzers and glow-y makeup. The results? A pretty, sun-kissed, bronzed tone that's good for your skin, too: You'll look younger (no wrinkles, brown spots and fine lines that are brought on by harmful UV rays) and you'll cut your risk of developing skin cancer. Here are the hottest, newest and even fun ways to get that bronze glow sans sun:

INSTA-TINT: If you want glow on your face pronto, use a glimmer-y, moisturizing makeup that transforms your skin tone from blah to warm bronze. Look for a formula that has moisturizers and a subtle color, with crushed pearls or quartz, like Physician's Formula Pearls of Perfection, Multi-Colored Face Tint, Translucent Glow. Use just a drop and spread it evenly over skin with your fingertips. "Liquid tends to have a higher concentration of pigment, so if you use too much, it can look dirty," says Emily Kate Warren, a New York City makeup artist.

SELF STARTER: Self tanners have been around for years, but say goodbye to the hard-to-use formulas from the past that left behind streaks and dark patches. Meet the next generation of self tanners-an ultra-fine misting spray that mimics a professional spray-on tan. The continuous mist is best for your body (use a separate self tanning cream on your face), works quickly to cover with one touch, and you don't have to rub it in (try L'Oreal Sublime Bronze, ProPerfect Airbrush Self Tanning Mist).

BRONZE BEAUTY: Give your face that sunkissed glow by artfully applying bronzer to sunspots on the cheeks, forehead and chin. "I like to apply bronzer as a contour first, and a color amplifier second," says Warren. Look for one shade darker than your skin tone in a powder formula like Cargo Bronzing Powder. Load your brush with color by brushing it back and forth and then apply the bronzer on the hollows of your cheekbones, at the temples, and along the jawline. Then dust the remaining color left on the brush (don't dip it in the bronzer again-it will be too dark) along the apples of your cheeks, the forehead and across the bridge of your nose.

SLOW AND STEADY: If you're unsure about self-tanning, then the best option may be a tinted moisturizer with gradual self-tanning action. It works with daily applications that you let you build on the existing tint, little by little. The look is lighter at first than with traditional self tanners, but since it's gradual, it's virtually foolproof-if you make a streaky mistake it's barely noticeable than with other self-tanners. There are formulas for the face and body (try Jergens Natural Glow Fact Moisturizer and Dove Energy Glow Moisturizer with Subtle Self Tanner) for fair, medium or dark shades. It gives your current skin tone a nice glow, and never looks dark or orangey. Swap your usual lotion with a glow moisturizer and use it each morning-by the next day, you'll notice a hint of tint that's naturally gorgeous.
