And why not? Since the 14th century, people have been holding onto handbags and using them as a sign of status. Pockets weren't invented until hundreds of years later, so handbags were actually a necessity back then (and some argue now as well). It's inevitable that handbags are bound to evolve over time to adapt to our need for individuality, right?
